Pomp and Circumstances Several school districts in Georgia are investigating at least 10 teachers and one principal who got pay raises after obtaining advanced educational degrees. The problem? The degrees came from an online diploma mill, not an actual accredited educational institution. A 10-year teacher earning $36,864 can get a 44 percent raise by claiming to have earned a doctorate. All the teachers got their questionable degrees from St. Regis University, which is located in Liberia and doesn’t require any actual coursework. So far six teachers, including a 30-year veteran, have resigned and returned over $25,000 in pay raises. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution) Available in This is True: Book Collection Vol. 10
